Basic Plain Scones

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • 6 tbsp butter cubed
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup buttermilk


  • In a food processor with blade attachment mix the dry ingredient and the butter till the butter is incorporated but still chunky
  • Add the Egg and the buttermilk, till slightly moist
  • Take the dough out and knead with some flour for about 5 minutes
  • Divide dough in half; pat each portion into a 5- inch circle. Cut each circle into 6 wedges
  • Separate wedges and place 1 in apart on a baking sheet
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown
